Summer Camp 2026: A Weekend to Remember

What a weekend. From the moment our families arrived at Lobster Common Campsite in Chettle on Friday afternoon, right through to the closing ceremony on Sunday, Summer Camp 2026 was full of connection, laughter, and joy.

Over three days, our families shared music workshops, forest adventures, a father's group around the fire, a Rave Cave disco, karate, den building, yoga, berry printing, and, of course, plenty of marshmallows and hot chocolate by the campfire. As one parent described:

"so many activities to keep the children entertained. A sense of freedom. Everyone understanding our challenges. Connection."

But camp is also about what happens in the spaces between the activities - the small, quiet moments of understanding between families who just get it.

This year, that came through beautifully in the lovely comments we received after camp:

"Kids felt safe and were celebrated for being their unique selves. They had freedom to express themselves. Grown-ups had sacred time to connect."
"The kids were happy and enjoyed the activities, giving us some time to talk as parents and relax."
"Just being with like-minded parents and being well supported by everyone."
"It was just so incredible."

Camp gives children the freedom to be entirely themselves - safe, celebrated, and understood - while giving parents and carers a rare chance to rest, connect, and be truly seen by others who understand their journey.

To every family who joined us around the fire this year: thank you. Thank you for your openness, your trust, and for bringing so much warmth to Lobster Common. Watching this community grow, year after year, is one of the greatest privileges of our work.

None of this happens without an incredible amount of support and we'd like to say a huge thank you to the people who made this year's camp so special:

  • Jamie, Olive, Dawn, and Magdalena, for running our activities and workshops with such warmth and creativity

  • Emma and Jason, for bringing the pizza van and keeping everyone very well fed on Saturday night

  • Lobster Common Campsite, for welcoming us once again and hosting our families

  • Tesco, for their kind donation of food for the weekend

We can't wait to do it all again.

With love, The Wave Connections Team
