Combining professional expertise with lived experience, she offers attachment-focused, sensory-informed, and body-based approaches to healing. Certified in DDP, Theraplay®, and trauma-sensitive yoga, Carly creates spaces where families can reconnect, repair, and thrive.

Sue Murrell

Family Support Practitioner, Theraplay® Informed, DDP Level 1 & Level 2

​Sue has over 30 years’ experience working with children and has supported adoptive families since 2007 through both local and regional adoption teams.

Trained in Theraplay® and DDP (Level 1), she uses playful, attachment-focused approaches to help children and their carers build stronger, connected relationships. Sue brings warmth, dedication, and deep practical experience to her work.

Laura Johnstone

Social Worker, DDP Practitioner, Specialist in Attachment & Developmental Trauma

Laura is a skilled social worker and certified DDP practitioner with over 16 years’ experience supporting children and families. She has worked extensively in adoption, fostering, and within CAMHS, where she supported children facing complex developmental trauma and attachment challenges. With a background in psychology and social work, Laura brings clinical insight, warmth, and a deep commitment to helping families heal through connection and trust.

Stephanie Smith

Therapist, Registered Adoption Counsellor, Clinical Practitioner, DDP-Certified. Practitioner

Stephanie is a passionate and dedicated therapist who began to focus on adoption and fostering after adopting her son in 2009. Realising how vastly different it is to parent a child who has experienced developmental trauma, she was drawn to learning and practicing theories of attachment and trauma, particularly informed by Dan Hughes’ PACE model, as well as the growing fields of neuroscience and body-based/somatic therapy.

 

Stephanie is a Practitioner in DDP, BACP Accredited therapist, registered Adoption Counsellor and EMDR Practitioner for adults, children and young people . She offers DDP as an affiliate with Wave Connections CIC alongside running her private practice, Balance in Mind Counselling, and working as a Clinical Practitioner in Therapeutic Led Care for an Independent Fostering Agency.

 

Stephanie strives to help parents and carers develop curiosity and acceptance of how their child’s thoughts, feelings and sensations inform their behaviour, stemming from their early life experiences and their body’s neurbiological adaptations to the trauma. Believing that relationships are essential for children to feel safe and to heal, Stephanie sees it is vital to build strong relationships with all the children, parents and carers she works with.

Claire is an accredited therapist and clinical supervisor with a rich background in play and creative arts therapies. With experience across schools, domestic abuse services, and adoption support, she brings deep empathy, expertise, and lived experience as a solo adoptive parent. DDP-informed and certified in multiple therapeutic approaches, Claire creates safe, playful spaces for healing, connection, and growth.
